Why is Pet Loss Care Memorial Center moving?

When I founded Eternal Companions Pet Memorial Center in Quebec in 2004, I was the first pet crematorium in Canada to offer video certification of all cremations done at my center. The only cremations I offered were private, single pet cremations - I did not offer communal cremations.

The ´machine´ I owned and operated initially was a small version of a human crematorium. It was perfect for my business model, which was strictly private, single pet cremation.

In 2007, I was the first pet memorial center in North America to offer online video streaming of cremations done at my center. This made it possible for families unable to attend the memorial service and cremation, whether due to distance or preference, to watch everything from the comfort and privacy of their home. I then upgraded my ´machine´ and a sample video is provided below of a video certified pet cremation.


When I opened my center in Victoria BC in November 2010, my then business associate preferred using the ´barrel´ type machine as it allowed communal cremations. My concern with this equipment was how to perform ´private single pet cremations´ cost effectively, as the chamber is very large. A sample video is provided below showing how large the chamber is.


After several trial runs, and several months of operation, I tested ´segregated´ cremations to see if this could become a viable option for families. No matter how hard I tried to accept this type of cremation, it just didn´t sit right with me. So I stopped the trial run and decided to never offer ´segregated´ cremations. My philosophy is private single pet cremations only, and I pride myself on practicing absolute customized care for each pet entrusted to me - from placing the pets in individual pet caskets, carefully clipping locks of fur, to wrapping them carefully in a blanket until ready for cremation. These are very ´beloved family members´ and I respect any and every special request put forth by the family. And so to that end, I could not continue using such a large chamber for a private single pet cremation business model. I am pleased to announce that I am relocating Pet Loss Care Memorial Center to better serve the Victoria community of pet lovers. I will have my storefront in Oak Bay, where families can come and visit, ask questions, or simply stop in - please bring along your furry family members as fresh homemade treats are always on hand!  And of course, a fresh cup of coffee or hot tea for the two-legged visitors.  

I am returning to my original business model of only offering private, single pet cremations. Cameras will be up and running 24 hours a day, and I plan on having a live video feed on my website at all times. It will be situated in an area that will give the viewer complete assurance as to our transparency, while protecting the privacy of families. (please note there will be nothing unpleasant to see)

As soon as both facilities are ready, I will be posting pictures and the address. Until then, please know we are still open for business. Our center will be available to welcome families the week of April 3rd, 2012.
