Pet Loss Care & Aquamation - a respectful option for pet loss
Finally, an environmentally friendly alternative to fire based pet cremation.
In 2013, we were the first Pet Memorial Center in North America to offer Aquamation as part of our on-going effort to provide the best possible service for grieving pet families.
Why choose Pet Loss Care over fire based pet crematoriums?
Pet Loss Care is concerned about the environment and the after care of your beloved companion. For this reason, we have switched to Aquamation.
Some of the immediate environmental benefits:
Zero emissions of harmful greenhouse gasses
Low energy consumption
1/10 the carbon footprint than flame based cremation
Some of the immediate pet family benefits:
A much gentler option
More of your beloved pet's remains back in an urn or scattering pouch
The most responsible choice for your family pet
Alkaline hydrolysis, commonly known as Aquamation, is the gentle and more responsible alternative that allows you to honour the loss of your companion without harming the environment. It uses a water based alkaline solution instead of fire. The process is slower than cremation because it more closely approximates that of Mother Nature when compared to high temperature flame based cremation.
It does so without harmful greenhouse gas emissions. In fact, Aquamation produces no significant gaseous emissions, making this the ideal choice even when compared to burials, which contributes to methane gas emissions.
After Aquamation, 'ash' is returned to the family in the same manner as it is with cremation. The ash is lighter in color because it is clean and without carbon discoloration. However, because Aquamation does not burn off some of the bone, the family actually receives 20% more of their beloved pet's remains, and only their pet's remains.
