My little Bomben was a short haired male. He was my best little friend, always by my side watching me and wanting me to cuddle him. He had such beautiful eyes.

I got this little kitty back in the late summer of 2000. He was found by a neighbour to us after he was left behind by some people at their summer house. I cannot believe that people can do such a thing. She took him to my mom and asked her if she could take care of him. Since she already had a few cats, I am so happy that she then asked me to take him. He was so small and full of life when I got him, and our two other and older cats really found themselves playing along and being chased by him.

Sadly one friday I couldnīt find him. We lived in an apartment on the 5th floor. I looked everywere but he was nowhere to be found. Finally I looked down on the street and there he was. His hip was split in two but I couldnt put him to sleep. I really loved that little kitten, so off to the vet we went. They put a big bult through his hip and he had it for eight weeks while the hip healed. You should have seen how happy he was when we removed it and he was literally running on the walls. I guess he had a lot of energy built up. The logical name for him after this was Bomben "The Bomb" :-)

In 2005 he was diagosed with kidney failure. For a time it was really critical, and he went in and out of the pet hospital. Once again he pulled through and he and I loved our life together. He always followed me around, and I have never seen a cat that made so much eye contact. I always knew I was his favorite as much as he was mine.

I found a new woman and we got married, moved to a big house and since she had two cats of her own, the house was full of life. He ran up and down the stairs with the other cats, watched movies with me, eat from my hand under the dinner table, and during the summertime, I took him out in a leach in the garden. He loved that.

The years passed by and in the beginning of 2012 I noticed that my little Bomben started to get skinnier but he was still full of life. Unfortunately this christmas his body could no longer hold back. His kidneys would not work anymore. Since 2005 I had given him one pill per day and I also had him on a strict special diet to fight the kidney failure. Because of that, he survived for almost 8 years after being diagnosed. I would like to encourage everybody in the same position never to give up. Miracles can happen, you just have to help them come trough.

On December the 26th 2012, in the pet hospital, my beloved Bomben died in my arms. He passed away peacefully but just before he stopped breathing he streched out his arms towards me. I believe that was the last sign of love from him to me.

There is no point of even try to put words on what I feel right now. I am a grown man, but I have never felt such grief and sorrow. I knew this day was coming but it was and is a true pain to see your friend go. What I do know is that he and I will meet on day again and walk together into eternity, just like in the legend of the Rainbow Bridge.

With love
/Andreas

What a wonderful relationship you two had! I am sure he could never have had a better life than what you gave him. He knew that and he showed that to you with all his heart and in a million ways. When you meet him again one day, he will be the little angel with whiskers.

Over a year has now past since I lost my little Bomben. I still think about him every day and I think I always will, but the crying and grief I felt for a few months are gone. Life always finds a way to go on I guess.
